Douglas Adams

Douglas Adams is an English writer born in Cambridge, England on 11 March 1952. Adams is mostly know for his novel The Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels. Adams begin his writing career after graduating from his university then moving back to London. While in London he looked for opportunities in TV and radio as a writer, but was later discovered by Graham Chapman of the Monty Pythons. Adams then was a contributor to the Monty Pythons, but later went into his own career writing his own books.

I was introduced to Adams by my Comedy and Satire teacher who made us read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. When reading the book i found myself enjoying it, which is a rare thing. In conclusion my class introduced me to this author.

I am sure that Adams' audience are young adults to adults, for it having more literacy devices for children to understand. He targets his audience perfectly, his books seem to be enjoyed by his audience enough for him to sell 15 million copies of his most famous book.

In his book the comedy is present most of the time all around the book, also the satire part is present, but not all the time.
